(AOG)

The AOG stands for “Aircraft on Ground”. It refers to a situation where an aircraft is grounded due to an unexpected issue or mechanical problem. When an aircraft is AOG, it can cause significant disruption to the supply chain and logistics process, especially when time-sensitive goods are involved, such as perishable goods or urgent medical supplies.

  The  AOG is a critical term because it often triggers an urgent response from the logistics team to resolve the issue as quickly as possible to get the aircraft back in the air. This requires careful coordination between different stakeholders, such as airlines, maintenance crews and logistics providers, to ensure that the necessary parts tools and expertise are available to repair the aircraft and get it back in operation as soon as possible.
